100% Absolutely true.
The vision I had of myself before my cancer spread was that I would completely crumble and fall apart mentally. The fear of recurrence and metastasis is all consuming.
When it happened, when my worst nightmare came true, I didn't respond at all the way I anticipated. My resilience came through and carried me through those dark days. Taking it in stride and putting one foot in front of the other was how I got through each day.
Trust in yourself. As terrible as it is if it happens, you will get through it. And as we know, worrying never changes the outcome or make our deepest wishes come true. Have faith that you are stronger than you think.
As Hagrid points out, what is to be will be, we can only change our response. Humans are capable of incredible things when we are faced with adversity and have no other options.
