It is so peaceful I want to crawl inside and hide. Safe and comfortable, protected by the folds of the petals that surround me. A safe place to hide was nowhere to be found during the war. In honour of those who gave their lives for our freedom and security, I ask you to take a moment as you look at this painting and remember the fallen. This flower sparked a connection in my soul and I knew I had to paint it. The energy simply flowed out of me onto the canvas, a release, breaking the seal. I can feel the rhythm returning.
